Quick-tips - Gifts for the Photographer in your life
Ok, it's that time of the year again, and you might well be thinking of gifts for this special people in your life. If, by chance, they happen to be photographers, here are some gift ideas that just might be useful.
Adding depth to an image
Photographs are 2-dimensional, but how sometimes you look at them, and they almost appear to be 3D. This is because in the 2D space of the image, the depth of the scene is also portrayed. Now generally, this is associated with expensive lenses, but you can give your images more depth by using some of the following tricks!
Quick-tips - Working on creativity
We live in an age of selfies, Facebook, snapchat and Instagram (to name a few), it has been estimated that we are collectively taking close to 1 trillion images a year (Yahoo estimated 880 million for 2014). It feels like everyone and there dog has a camera these days, and no matter what you shoot, the chances are someone already has a similar shot or a better one, and even if they don't already, they will... and soon.
A great image combines Creativity and Technique, and by using these two factors you will move away from just 'clicking' and image to capturing and creating them. I may not be able to teach you creativity, but I can certainly help you learn.
Lightroom optimisation
Taking pictures is only the start of your images life, it is not until post-processing that they really comes to fruition. I use Adobe LR CC, and love it. However, it can get slow! So here are some tips to make sure your LR is running as fast as it can! :) I hope you enjoy the video...
Quick-tips - Format don't delete!

Quick-tips - Keep trying!
When I head out into the jungle, there is no guarantee that I will see something new (less and less likely the more I go in fact), so I am constantly trying to get the best image I can of commonly sighted subjects.
My logic loop, or How I shoot wildlife
When out shooting wildlife, I have a general looping thought process for taking images, so that I am always ready for a surprise appearance, and can then make the most of each chance!
Quick-tips - Pre-visualization, planning and knowledge
I am frequently asked, “How did you get that shot?” to which I answer vaguely “time”. However, there are some very particular steps I go through in order to get my shots, and I am going to share them with you using a recent picture as an example.
Quick-tips - Batteries and memory cards
It does not matter how good your camera is, or how much your lens costs, because without batteries and memory cards, they are worthless!
Quick-tips - Lighting Night time Wildlife
Shooting in low light conditions is tough enough, so how can we shoot in dark? Well... bring you own light.. Any light!
Quick-tips - Making your stars pop!
Here's a quick tip to make your nighttime sky go 'boom' with one simple trick in adobe lightroom!
Quick-tips - What lens next?
"What lens should I get next?" is a common question I am asked and it is not a simple answer. But one little trick i use to help me decide which lens i should buy next is to examine my current lens/focal length usage. By looking at this information you can see if you need a direct lens upgrade, or to go longer/wider... I hope this video helps! :)
