Here is another one from the archives... A quick 3 day jaunt to Jerusalem in Israel back in 2011.

I like TED talks, but this one by Trey Ratcliff is great....  worth a watch! :)

Bhitarkanika in Odisha, is a lesser known national park, but well worth the visit if you are in the area. It is famous for  The saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) with nearly 10%  of them over 6 meters long. I found it fantastic for king fishers, and i was pretty much alone the whole day I spent there!

The Ranganthittu bird sanctuary is a cluster of islands and one large island in a crocodile infested part of the Kaveri river. It is because of the lurking danger of the crocodiles that the birds thrive, as they are the guardians of the island which is so precious for the birds to nest on. The treat of the crocodiles is far less than the threat of the other predators that the crocodiles scare off (eat). Symbioses.

BRT hills (Biligiriranga Swamy Temple Wildlife Sanctuary), located South-east of Mysore is another Karnataka tiger reserve. I've only been the once  for a couple of wet days during the monsoon nearly 2 years ago. Despite it not being the most prolific of wildlife trips, being in the jungle when it is so lush is such a pleasure, and inexplicably very memorable! :) Low light, mist and clouds, hills, tall undergrowth...  it all adds the the mystic of the jungle.

Back in 2012, I took a fantastic week long trip with my wife Jenifer, and our two old friends Jon and Tatyana on a 3000+ km around Iceland. Looking back on the images I got is a joy for me and I hope you might enjoy them too! :) For anyone who has never been, i would highly recommend it! :)

Another trip down memory lane...  this time a shoot in Kaziranga Tiger Reserve in Assam, India! :)

I stood by the jeep looking out over the grasslands of Kaziranga in the state of Assam watching some swamp deer and rhinos graze in the distance. It was beautiful! Then suddenly the elephant grass in front of me twitched and out strode a rhino, heading straight at me. I froze as it approached, my muscles tensed as my body prepared for flight. It kept coming closer, too close, was it going to charge? Should I run?

Remembering my first trip to Bandipur Tiger Reserve, oh so long ago! :)

We sat in the car with the windows open, holding our breaths and straining our ears to hear it again. It was near pitch dark and forest was deadly silent except for the guttural roars of a tigers mating call from metres away from us.
