Gokarna, more than just beaches

Gokarna is a famous sea-side town in northern Karnataka and is claimed to be "Goa 20 years ago". With numerous beaches in and around the town, a plethora of hippies in all shapes and varieties, it is a very fun place to be, especially over new years eve when we visited! :)

The town of Gokarna itself is a historic Hindu pilgrimage site. Gokarna actually means Cow's Ear, and it is believed that Lord Shiva emerged from the ear of a cow (Prithvi, the Mother Earth) here. It is at the ear-shaped confluence of two rivers Gangavali and Aghanashini. [wiki]

However, this isn't a story about either of these. It is a story about the back streets away from the beach, in the maze of busy and quiet streets, where people sit on the their stoop watching the world pass by!

All of these images were taken using the Canon 100D and EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM lens. This is as small as you can go with a DSLR and ideal for street photography! :)
